Tech Volunteers
The Ark takes pride in its reputation for consistently great-sounding performances. We achieve these results with a largely volunteer sound production staff, using a JBL sound system that is compliments of Harman International.
Currently, The Ark has a full tech crew, but please check back for opportunities to volunteer in the future.
To volunteer as a sound tech you should possess a good sense of pitch and an ability to hear the distinct timbres of different singers and instruments. Some experience is necessary.
Tech volunteers arrive at an arranged time to meet the artist and load in the artists' equipment, and are expected to stay until the end of the show for stage breakdown and performer equipment packing, making for a total evening's time commitment of six to seven hours. Punctuality and a commitment to the entire performance is necessary.
We request that tech volunteers sign up to work two to three performances a month.
There is no dress code for volunteers. Jeans and T-shirts are acceptable.
If you are an experienced sound technician and are interested in volunteering, please fill out the attached information sheet and send it to The Ark office at 1955 Pauline Blvd, Ste. 200, Ann Arbor, MI 48104, c/o Emily. Please provide accurate local contact information.
