Lots of bands play traditional jazz, or swamp pop, or zydeco, or Cajun music, or New Orleans rock, or Allen Toussaint-style funk, or any of the other amazing musics Louisiana has given the world. But the Dixie Power Trio is the only one that puts them all together into a single high-energy package. Maybe it took a band from Fredericksburg, Virginia, to see the big picture. The Dixie Power Trio is actually a quartet, led by tubist Andy Kochenour and cornet/accordionist Zack Smith--but who's counting? With great original songs that draw on the whole spectrum of Louisiana music, the DPT is guaranteed to get your feet tapping and your musical synapses firing.
