"'The area's premier Irish cultural event!'--DetroitIrish.org"
Now an annual tradition, Crossroads Ceili returns to The Ark and promises to be one of the most enjoyable events of the year for lovers of traditional culture. Showcasing local talent alongside legendary recording artists, music, song, dancing, and workshops, the Ceili provides the most complete Irish entertainment experience available.
Brian Conway and Barbara Magone It’s a special treat to have fiddler Brian Conway at the Ceili! A student of past legends Martin Wynne and Andy McGann, Brian is recognized as the foremost exponent of the unique "Sligo-New York style” of Irish fiddle. He is an All-Ireland champion many times over, and his CD “First through the Gate” was named CD of the Year by the Irish Echo. Pianist Barbara Magone, a legend in her own right, will join Brian on stage. Barbara is recognized as one of the finest accompanists in traditional music, and has two solo albums to her credit. Brian and Barbara will also offer workshops during the day!
On the Floor Nick Gareiss, a crowd pleaser for the first Crossroads Ceili, will make a special return this year! At only 18, Nick is a master of all styles of percussive dancing; his own unique eclectic style has made him a favorite throughout the region. Nick will be joined by Irish step-dancers from the Detroit area.
Local Favorites Fiddler Mick Gavin, recently inducted into the Irish Music Hall of Fame, will perform along with his award winning fiddle students Chelsey, Maura, and Holland, sons Michael and Dean, and many more outstanding Irish musicians from the Detroit-Ann Arbor area.
Contact Mick Gavin at (313) 537-3489 for more information.
