"A Benefit Concert for John Roberts"
We’ve just had word that one of The Ark’s best friends, John Roberts—of the English folk singing duo John Roberts & Tony Barrand—collapsed at a recent concert. As it turns out, John has three blocked arteries and will be having bypass surgery on July 1st. He and Tony were scheduled to play at The Ark on Friday, July 8th. Though John can’t make it, Tony has enlisted friend and accordion player Paul Smith to join him in a benefit concert, with all proceeds helping to cover John’s medical care. We’re asking our Ark friends to turn out for this concert en masse to send John some generous emotional and financial support. If you’ve been to a John and Tony concert, you know that these guys lead some of the best pub singing to be found anywhere in the world. You’ll have a great time being part of the chorus, and together we’ll help out a longtime friend.
