"The Ark's 10th Annual Fall Fundraiser"
The Ark's annual fundraiser takes us to Bourbon Street this year. For our guides, we're bringing in two of The Ark’s best friends who know what it means to miss New Orleans--both have roots in Louisiana blues, but have taken the music to new homes and made it grow. Marcia Ball took New Orleans blues piano to Austin, Texas. She's the reigning queen of bayou blues and honky-tonk piano, and a tremendous songwriter to boot. Her southern boogie and roadhouse blues licks are guaranteed to bring the house down. New Orleans-to-Boston transplant Chris Smither takes the blues in a direction of his own, with quiet, profound original songs in which his voice and guitar seem to merge. It’s a killer double bill you won’t hear anywhere else! Jambalaya, cornbread, beans and beads will be on hand to complete our transformation into a New Orleans blues club for the evening.
Call The Ark at (734) 761-1800 during business hours for tickets and information. General admission tickets are $50 and include the performance and dessert reception. A reserved seating/dinner package for $125 includes a reserved seat, pre-show dinner provided by Zingerman’s Roadhouse at 5:30 p.m., valet parking and the dessert reception. $500 and $250 tickets are sold out.
All proceeds support The Ark, Ann Arbor’s home for acoustic music
